my cats

this is a page dedicated to my family's three precious cats - penny, bubba, and ellie!

Pennyloafer "Penny" Petunia

Gender: Female
Coat: Dilute Calico
Birthday: February 11th, 2019

A May 2019 graduate from Kitten Academy, Pennyloafer was a part of the Solemates litter of kittens, which was the last Kitten Academy class that left while Kitten Academy was still based in Illinois. She was the first of the litter to walk out of the box by herself, which was a sign of her confident, spunky personality.

Around April 2019, my family got the news that we were chosen to adopt two kittens from Kitten Academy! My mom chose Pennyloafer from the Solemates class, and Hubbub from the Tantrums class. In May, we drove all the way to Fox Lake, Illinois to see the Kitten Academy house and pick up little Penny, as we would have to come back next month to get Hubbub.

When we brought Penny home, it was very apparent she was more social and active than the two cats we had before. She followed us around, was (and is still) very vocal, and actually played with the toys we gave her.

Penny currently likes eating trout-flavored meat sticks, begging for treats, playing with her bee on a string, and snuggling with my dad at night. Her nicknames are Pen-Pen, Pincent (pronounced like Vincent), and Pincentini. Her middle name Petunia, as well as the middle names of the other cats, was given to her by my sister.

Hubbub "Bubba" Bumblebee

Gender: Male
Coat: Orange Tabby
Birthday: March 21st, 2019

Hubbub graduated from Kitten Academy in June 2019. Since the owners of Kitten Academy moved to Conneticut a month earlier, Hubbub and his siblings were taken to a local adoption center in Illinois, where my parents picked him up.

When he was brought home, it took a while for him and Penny to get along, but before we knew it, they were licking each other and chasing each other around.

Out of the three of our cats, Bubba is the most shy. He's also the most affectionate, as he is always willing to snuggle. He rarely meows, but when he does it's the cutest raspiest meow.

Bubba LOVES eating, as well as licking plastic, stealing socks, and doing "shaka shaka" (Kitten Academy slang for a cat standing up and fiercly scratching at glass). His nicknames are The Bubba, Mr. The Bubba, and Mr. Bubsters.

Elenoir "Ellie" Velvet

Gender: Female
Coat: Dilute Tortoiseshell
Birthday: Unknown, presumably 2019

Elenoir is different from Penny and Bubba, as she is not from Kitten Academy; rather, she showed up in our backyard one day in June 2020 and eventually we decided to take her in!

We officially adopted her on July 28th, 2020. My sister deicided to name her "Eleanor" after the song Eleanor Rigby, and settled on the spelling "Elenoir" to reflect her gray fur. She ended up becoming really close with my sister.

Don't let her RBF in the picture fool you - Ellie is a sweetheart! Well...at least when she wants to be, anyway. Because she grew up as a stray and therefore was much less pampered than Penny and Bubba, she is much more independent and territorial. She doesn't hate Penny and Bubba, but she doesn't really hang out with them often. But she does have a heart, and loves cuddling with us, especially my sister.

Ellie loves stealing bites of bread and bacon from us and burrowing into piles of laundry. Her nicknames are Ellie Belly, Smelly, and Stinky.
