Welcome to my Cartoon Network shrine! Check out the "My History" tab to read all about my history with this crazy network, and check out the "Gallery" tab to see my Cartoon Network/Adult Swim graphics hoard (along with graphics I created myself).

It all started in 2005, when I was only 3 years old. I was already showing advanced development due to my then-undiagnosed autism - at 2 years old I was reading Dick and Jane books and playing Diner Dash and bloating my parents' computer with Nick Arcade games all by myself. And I was also in love with cartoons.

I loved Spongebob - there's a picture of me at the local fair in 2005 wearing a pink tie-dye Spongebob shirt. Every single day I would go to my grandparents' house to stay there while my parents worked, and I would lie down on the floor eating peanut butter sandwiches and watching cartoons all day. My favorites were Corneil and Bernie, the aforementioned SpongeBob, and of course I watched Playhouse Disney and Nick Jr.

And eventually, my grandpa introduced me to a channel called Boomerang.

Each day, the Pokemon anime (which I never cared for) would air a couple episodes, followed by some Hanna Barbera cartoons. Then, a little show called Tom & Jerry would air, which would end up being the highlight of each day I would watch Boomerang. The show captivated me, and it ended up becoming my very first cartoon special interest. I particularly liked quoting "Touche, pussy cat". Tom and Jerry became imaginary friends for me, and I would talk to myself about cartoons all the time. I dubbed this act of talking to myself about special interests "Touche-ing".

Eventually I found the actual Cartoon Network channel. It was in the midst of its City era, and I remember loving the little bumpers with the characters interacting with each other. Foster's was my favorite of the cartoons currently airing new episodes at that point, and I also loved Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Camp Lazlo, Billy & Mandy, and Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi.

And I also learned quickly to not watch the channel too late - when it was late enough, I would see an ominous "Parental Advisory" logo fade in, and then the channel would suddenly transform into a completely different network called "Adult Swim". My dad enjoyed the shows on this network, and sometimes I'd secretly take a little peek at Aqua Teen Hunger Force when he would watch it late at night. Adult Swim terrified me at first, but when I got a little older, around 6-7 years old, I would get to the point where I'd be captivated by it. Whenever I'd spend the night at my grandparents' house, I would spend hours watching Adult Swim. There was nothing else quite like it, just like Cartoon Network itself.

Back to the Cartoon Network side of things, the channel began to go downhill around 2009, due to them getting the bright idea that they should throw away their creative integrity to compete with Disney Channel and Nick and start to put out live action shows. However, airing at the same time were two original cartoons called Chowder and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. These two were huge hits in my family, giving us huge laughs and inside jokes which are still told to this day.

So after all that history I just spewed there, you'd think I could technically be considered a 2nd generation Cartoon Network fan, given that I started watching in the mid-2000s. But as far as some of my favorite memories with the channel go, I identify more with the 3rd generation as that's when I started watching the channel more religiously.

And this all kicked off around May 2011. I'd already been watching Regular Show and Adventure Time, which are the two shows that started the channel's Renaissance era. But it was The Amazing World of Gumball that truly kickstarted my passion in animation and got me to start actually researching the history of Cartoon Network and other TV channels.

I would run to the TV every Monday night to watch the entire CN Monday Nights block from beginning to end. Johnny Test, Gumball, Advneture Time, Regular Show, MAD, and yes, even The Problem Solverz. I was serious about Cartoon Network now.

Eventually I got an account on the Cartoon Network website and began discussing with others on the Gumball Fan Talk forums. I racked up badges on the awesome flash games they used to have on the website. And of course I would watch the 5-minute Gumball sneak peeks which were sponsored by McDonald's.

This hyperfixation would carry on until around 2014.

What happened in 2014, you ask? My parents had just cancelled cable due to my mom quitting her job. Due to this, I wasn't able to watch my favorite shows anymore (streaming wasn't a huge thing yet, and I didn't know about pirating websites). I started getting a DreamWorks hyperfixation, which of course didn't require me to have cable. I got into watching YouTubers, and generally started to lose the CN hyperfixation. And it was in August 2014 when I'd get into Caddicarus, which would end up becoming my next special interest.

I hyperfixated on Caddicarus for the next 4 and a half years. But even then, my TAWOG hyperfixation would return for a few weeks once a year, up until the end of its original run in 2019.

In March 2023, that same grandfather who introduced me to Boomerang and watched Regular Show with me passed away. I wouldn't have developed a special interest in Cartoon Network as young as I did if it weren't for my grandpa. He was the catalyst that caused me to develop such a strong love for cartoons that would go onto blossom into a deep appreciation for animation as a whole. To this day, I still hold Cartoon Network close to my heart. Even through all the adversity and hardships I've seen this channel go through, my love for it has never faded away.
